Arthur C. Brooks is president of the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research. Previously, he was the Louis A Bantle Professor of Business and Government Policy at Syracuse University. Throughout his career, Mr. Brooks has conducted research on the connections between culture, politics, and economic life, and has published hundreds of articles and nine books in subjects ranging from the economics of the arts to military operations research. His forthcoming book, The Road to Freedom: How to Win the Fight for Free Enterprise, will be released in May 2012. Like his areas of study, Mr. Brooks’s path through academia was not a conventional one. At 19, he dropped out of college to pursue a career as a professional French hornist. He went on tour with the guitarist Charlie Byrd and then became associate principal French hornist with the City Orchestra of Barcelona. In his late twenties, he returned to college and studied economics, math and languages, eventually earning a master’s degree in economics and a PhD in public policy. Don’t miss the opportunity to see this brilliant gentleman speak at the Forum! |
